Alright, tomorrow is the big race. The Trail Nut Half Marathon at Falling Creek Park in Bedford, VA. This will be the third year that the race has been run and I ran in the first race two years ago. The course is mostly on trails and over rolling hills. The last time I ran this race I thought way to much of myself and my ability and I greatly underestimated the difficulty involved in trail running. (This was my first time running on trails much less racing on them.) I went out and led the first two miles of the race at what I can only look back now and guess was a 6:15 or 6:20 pace. Needless to say that by the end of the race I was boarding on death and I was less than ecstatic about my 1:47 finishing time. This year I am looking to remedy some of my earlier mistakes, I'll be taking the first several miles of the race easy, I'm planing on running with my camel-back to ward off dehydration and armed with my former knowledge I've put together a bit of a pace-per-mile plan. I'm hoping to finish somewhere around 1:40 and if I'm able to pull it off I'll be the happiest guy in town. Either way this is an awesome race in a great location and it's put on by a great staff with a laid back attitude. I had a blast last time and I'm looking forward to being there in the morning. Bring it on.
